This isn’t politics. This is principalities. And I have a whiteboard that proves it.
Turn on the news and what do you see? Chaos. Division. Leaders who seem to have lost their way. Additionally, there are weather patterns that feel intentional. In short, a world that makes less sense with each passing day. However, here’s what most commentators won’t tell you: the spiritual warfare behind today’s headlines is real, and until you understand that, nothing else will make sense.
I’ve been tracking this. Furthermore, I have a system. In my basement office—on the opposite side from where my son Kyle vapes and plays video games—I’ve built what Tammy calls “the board.” It’s a whiteboard with news clippings, Bible verses, and red string connecting them. She says it “looks like something from a crime show.” In response, I told her that’s because a crime is being committed. A spiritual crime. Against America.
The Spiritual Warfare In The Headlines Is Coordinated
I’ve spent the last two decades studying Scripture, and the last decade watching how its prophecies play out in our headlines. Consequently, the patterns have become unmistakable to me. Too unmistakable, in fact. Suspiciously unmistakable, one might say.
Consider this: last Tuesday, three bad things happened in the news. Three. The number of the Trinity, inverted. Coincidence? I’ve added it to the board.
Ephesians 6:12 tells us: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world.” Read that again. Then let it sink in. The Apostle Paul was writing about his time, but he was also writing about ours. Specifically, he was writing about cable news. Moreover, he was writing about the internet. Most importantly, he was writing about that one news anchor whose eyes seem wrong to me in a way I can’t fully articulate but have noted on the board.
How The Enemy Operates (I Have Examples)
When I look at the state of our culture, I don’t just see disagreement. Instead, I see a coordinated assault on the foundations of faith, family, and nation. Some people call this “progress.” However, I call it what it is: the enemy working through willing vessels who don’t even know they’re being used.
Are these people evil? Not necessarily. Most of them probably think they’re doing good. Nevertheless, that’s exactly how the adversary operates. He doesn’t announce himself. Rather, he whispers. He suggests. He gets a streaming service to cancel a show I liked, and nobody asks why. Nobody except me, that is. I’m asking why. I’ve written it on the board.
My wife, Tammy, asks me sometimes why I spend so much time on this. “Wayne,” she says, “it’s 2 AM. Can’t you just come to bed?” I understand her concern. But I’ve been called to this ministry of discernment. As I discussed in my piece about algorithms as prophecy, someone has to connect the dots. After all, someone has to see what others refuse to see.
Kyle Doesn’t Understand The Spiritual Warfare In These Headlines
Meanwhile, my son Kyle—he’s 28, still “figuring things out” in the basement—doesn’t share my sense of urgency. His generation has been distracted by screens and entertainment, lulled into a spiritual sleep by vape clouds and something called “Discord.” That’s an interesting name for something, if you think about it. Discord. As in, the opposite of harmony. As in, what the enemy wants.
I mentioned this to Kyle. He said “Dad, it’s just a chat app.” But is it? Is it just a chat app? I’ve added it to the board. Nevertheless, I pray for him daily. Similarly, I pray he wakes up before the rapture, which could be any moment now based on several calculations I’ve done.
Your Discernment Is Correct
Here’s what I want you to understand: you don’t need me to tell you something is wrong. You can feel it. That unease in your spirit when you watch the news? That sense that the world has gone off track? That’s not anxiety—that’s discernment. In other words, your spirit is telling you what your eyes can’t see.
Tammy says what I’m describing sounds like anxiety. She’s been leaving pamphlets on my desk. Secular pamphlets. Consequently, I’ve added them to the board as evidence of something, though I’m not sure what yet.
We Know How This Ends (I’ve Mapped It)
The spiritual warfare behind today’s headlines is real. The enemy is real. But take heart: so is our victory. We know how this story ends because we’ve read the Book. Furthermore, I’ve cross-referenced it with current events. The timeline is on the board. It’s color-coded.
Stay vigilant. Stay faithful. And remember: this isn’t politics.
This is principalities.
And I have the string to prove it.
Selah.
