Comments

When you leave a comment on our site, we collect the information you provide in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user agent string. This helps us detect spam—because while we publish satire, we draw the line at comments promising miracle weight loss solutions.

If you use a Gravatar (an avatar linked to your email address), an anonymized version of your email may be sent to the Gravatar service to retrieve your image. You can review their privacy policy at automattic.com/privacy. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible alongside it.

Media

If you upload images to our website, we recommend removing embedded location data (EXIF GPS) before uploading. We’re satirists, not stalkers—but other visitors could potentially extract that data from your images.

Cookies

We use cookies. Not the delicious kind—the small data files kind. Here’s how:

• Comment cookies: If you leave a comment, you can opt to save your name, email, and website in cookies so you don’t have to re-enter them next time. These last one year.
• Login cookies: If you have an account, we set cookies to save your login info and display preferences. Login cookies last two days (or two weeks if you select “Remember Me”). Screen options cookies last one year.
• Temporary cookies: When you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and disappears when you close your browser.
• Editing cookies: If you edit or publish content, a cookie saves the post ID for one day. No personal data is stored.

Embedded Content

Our articles may include embedded content from other websites (videos, images, social media posts, etc.). This embedded content behaves exactly as if you visited those websites directly. These third-party sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with their content—especially if you’re logged into their services. Who We Share Your Data With

We don’t sell your data. We’re not in the data business; we’re in the satire business. However, if you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email for security purposes. Additionally, visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How Long We Keep Your Data

Comments: If you leave a comment, we retain the comment and its metadata indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and automatically approve follow-up comments rather than holding them for moderation.

Registered users: If you register for an account, we store the personal information you provide in your user profile. You can view, edit, or delete your personal information at any time (except your username). Site administrators can also access and edit this information.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are legally required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
