“Something’s off,” reports local resident who can’t quite put his finger on it
CLEARWATER HEIGHTS — A local man has reported experiencing a persistent bad feeling about all of this, according to sources familiar with the situation.
The man, 54, who asked not to be identified because he doesn’t want “them” knowing he’s onto something, told reporters that he woke up this morning with a strong sense that something isn’t right.
“I can’t explain it,” he said, gesturing vaguely at everything. “But something’s off. You can feel it, can’t you? Tell me you can feel it.”
As of press time, the nature of “all this” remains unclear, though the man indicated it encompasses “the whole thing” and “everything that’s been going on.”
A Pattern Emerges
The bad feeling first began several years ago but has reportedly intensified in recent months. The man cited “the news,” “the economy,” “the way people are acting,” and “that thing that happened” as contributing factors.
“You look at what’s going on, and you tell me that’s normal,” he said. “You can’t. Because it isn’t.”
When pressed for specifics, the man shook his head slowly and said, “If you don’t already see it, I can’t help you.”
Neighbors confirmed the man has expressed similar sentiments on multiple occasions, often while retrieving his mail or standing in his driveway looking at the sky.
“He keeps saying something big is coming,” reported one neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous. “He’s been saying it for about six years now.”
Experts Weigh In
Dr. Patricia Helms, a professor of sociology at a local university, suggested that feelings of ambient unease are common during periods of social change.
“Many people experience a generalized sense that–” she began, before being cut off by the man, who had obtained her phone number.
“That’s exactly what they’d want you to think,” he told her. “Who funds your research? Have you looked into that? You should look into that.”
Dr. Helms declined to comment further and has since changed her number.
Developing Situation
The man says he plans to continue monitoring the situation from his living room, where he has access to multiple news sources and a clear view of the street.
“I’m not saying I know what’s coming,” he said. “I’m just saying something’s coming. And when it does, I’ll be the one who saw it first. Remember that. Remember I told you.”
He then asked this reporter whether we had noticed anything “weird” about the planes flying overhead lately, before declining to elaborate.
Authorities have not issued any statements, because there is nothing to issue a statement about. The man considers this “suspicious.”
